This 19th century stone built house has been in the same family for four generations. Nestled in the most tranquil location above the north east coast of Corfu, Threshers House is the perfect choice for those searching a peaceful and slower pace of life. Well appointed above the hamlet of Porta and surrounded by greenery, the charm of the villa inside is the attention to detail throughout, with antiques and beamed ceilings adding unique character to the ambience. The original stone floors still show the memories of the past where horses or donkeys walking in a continuous circle and would separate the grain from the chaff by crushing it on the hard surface.
Double French windows in the living area give light and an air of spaciousness to the interior. Comfy sofas cluster around the fireplace, and an elegant dining area is enhanced with dainty lace curtains filtering in the sunshine. A twin bedroom, decorated with pretty floral curtains and bedcovers, also has a fireplace where the owners Grandmother would once cook the bread. Another twin and a double bedroom (master bedroom) share the balcony that runs along the main area of the house, in prime position to enjoy the stunning sunrise.
Ideal for breakfast, the main balcony that runs along the living area looks out to a glorious panorama of the Albanian mountains and the verdant hillsides that drop down to the Ionian Sea.
There is a large stone veranda, a perfect spot for lunches in the shade, with a simple table and chairs and several pots of flowers and herbs. A few steps down, the infinity pool is a magnificent turquoise colour and can be heated at a supplement during cooler months.
