Carolyn, UKDate of stay: July 2014 We stayed for a week in this lovely villa, and found it comfortable, clean and well supplied with everything we needed for our holiday. We went with 2 teenagers and a 12yr old and we found the villa was able to comfortably accommodate us all. It's lovely to arrive late at night on holiday and only have to drive only 15/20 mins from the airport to get to your destination, and find, even so it's peaceful and quiet. The villa is so well situated, 5 mins from the pretty hilltop village of Pelekas, with a wonderful choice of pretty golden sandy beaches with crystal clear sea. I wasn't expecting the coastline to be so beautiful with pine clad hills dropping down to a necklace of coves with a turquoise sea - stunning. Watching the sunset over the sea from a restaurant at the top of one of the hills (Kaiser's throne) with a cool glass of bubbly was a lovely way to end our first full day. The pool was spotless and sufficiently big for the 5 of us, and our girls really enjoyed spending time there and cooling off in the pool. If you're looking for a place to unwind where the biggest question of the day is "pool or beach?" then this is a great villa in which to base yourself, as you'll be happy with either answer. There are also plenty of places to explore by car; the north east of the island has a different character, but no less pretty beaches, albeit white pebbles instead of sand. And Corfu is a charming, characterful town with it's warren of narrow streets and pleasant squares. We had a great time in Andy and Mags villa- we'd happily go back tomorrow.'
Lucille,SwitzerlandDate of stay: June 2014 Nous avons séjourné 2 semaines au Cottage Pelekas. Translation: We stayed 2 weeks at Cottage Pelekas. Unforgettable stay! The house is in a quiet corner, surrounded by two other uninhabited houses (one is under construction and the other belongs to a man from Athens)! Our two children were able to scream as much as they wanted, no one is disturbed! Just as nobody bothers us either. The swimming pool is not very big but sufficient to occupy the children while they are preparing for the sea! On the other hand, you must take a car to get to the beautiful beaches of the west coast… Otherwise, you will miss an essential aspect of the island. A stay not to be missed for lovers of tranquility but who nevertheless like to move to discover the surroundings.
Nicky P, UKDate of stay: June 2014 Lovely villa, just 15 minutes from the airport, and although we arrived late at night, Andy's instructions were very easy to follow. There were the only two of us, but the villa would have been fine for 4. Although it's the middle one of three attached villas, one is not ready to be let and the other was empty, so we were undisturbed. The villa is well equipped, clean and in excellent condition. Outside was quite spacious and had two tables, 8 chairs and six sun loungers! There was always some shade available, while the pool and part of the garden always remained in the sun - perfect! The pool is small but for the two of us was just right, and it was cleaned 3 times a week. We shared the garden with a few frogs and grasshoppers, and the swifts entertained us with their aerobatics - one pair had built a nest in the covered patio and their eggs hatched while we there. And the fireflies came out when it was dark! You do need a car, but the village of Pelekos is only a 5 minute drive away. There are four or five decent tavernas. All in all, we had a very good stay. We wanted to relax and unwind, and that's exactly we did. This villa is definitely worth considering.
Jen1says, UKDate of stay: May 2014 We travelled out to Corfu on EasyJet and hired a car via Value Plus. All very uneventful and easy. The instructions to get to the villa are spot on but the local drivers and lack of road signs lead a lot to be guessed. The villa is amazing. Everything you need to live ‘home from home’ including a washing machine, games console, DVDs for when the kids get too hot outside and some fantastic 80’s music!! The CD player was on everyday whilst we lounged by the private pool. As we arrived late we also took advantage of the ‘food parcel’ which was perfect as we didn’t get to the villa until after midnight and needed a cup of tea! One thing I would say is try and be at the villa around 10pm. The fire fly display on the track road is amazing – even for a child that hates bugs. We loved them and it was the first time we had seen such a display of lights. I think they are only around for a few months though. Recommended places; Certainly drive to Pelekas village and go right up to the top at Kaisers Throne. You get views across Corfu and over to Albania and Greece. The village has a few tavernas and bars but not all take cards so be aware. Agios Gordios, slightly further down the coast from Pelekas, is also worth a days visit. Lovely beach and lots of tavernas. We went to the Sea Breeze hotel and used their pool as we bought food there. If you are looking for a relaxing villa, away from the hustle, with a private pool then you cannot ask for anything better than this villa
Susie Q, UKDate of stay: May 2014 Our stay at Pelekas Cottage was great & very relaxing, the cottage was exactly as described as were the facilities, it was clean, well equipped and the pool was regularly cleaned by Tony. The directions given from the airport to the property were precise and easy to follow, only about 20 mins. It is a good place from which to explore the whole island and only 10 minutes from the nearest beach, all the beaches had something to offer, our favourite was Ermone which also has several beach side taverna's selling a good selection of food at favourable prices. The fireflies were a delight & fascinating to watch, as the darkness fell. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from it all, but within distance of all facilities. Brilliant !! :-) Our Response: Thank you very much for your wonderful review Mike and Susan. We're really pleased that you enjoyed the villa and Corfu as much as we do. :-) Hope to have you stay again sometime in the future.
Grib, UKDate of stay: September 2013 This holiday was absolute heaven. As has been said in all the reviews, the owners Andy and Mags couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was perfect. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They made sure we had everything we needed. The location is wonderful, the beach is literally minutes away. There are a few great tavernas around Pelekas village which we went to. A bit further afield is Agios Gordios. All lovely and clean. Quiet and peaceful, the perfect place for a wonderful holiday. There are supermarket type shops just outside Corfu Town which supply everything you need to be self catering. The villa has everything you need to be a self caterer if you don’t want to eat out. Not often we say this but we could find nothing to complain about on this holiday. Certainly recommend this lovely villa. The photographs do not do the villa justice. It is stunning, peaceful and relaxing.
Buttons, UKDate of stay: June 2013 This villa was just what we needed for a holiday in Corfu. We wanted a base to allow us to go for walks and drives out to local attractions. We hired a car and visited lots of the local sites. The monastery is great for scenic photographs but there are also plenty of coach trips so it can be busy. We walked behind a tour to listen to the local history. Corfu Town is 15 minutes away and is lovely and quaint in places. Spend a few hours walking around, and you will find interesting sights, shops of every size and quality. The people are friendly and helpful - some of the small shops are filled with fantastic local items. Pottery, clothing and lovely local jewellery. Prices are reasonable, and there was no attempt at ripping off tourists that we found. Old Fortress is positioned at the head of the town stretching out on a peninsula of rocks into the sea and stands high above the town for all to see. It is a magnificent fortress and a complex structure. You can't miss this from Corfu Old Town. We enjoyed walking around the fortress, especially to enjoy the gorgeous views of the water. The chapel was worth a short visit as well. We would recommend the villa for a nice quiet base. It was clean, friendly and had everything you would need to be home from home for a week or two. As a couple the villa had loads of room with a double and a twin bedroom plus seating areas inside and out.
