Deborah M, UKDate of stay: August 2015 Still waters is a wonderful villa, smart, clean and spacious. It is in a lovely little suburb and the gardens and views are stunning. Apart from some tiny little details, I couldn’t really fault the villa at all. The games were welcomed, the music CD’s were good to have, one of the kids did watch a DVD and the swimming pool inflatables were good fun! We appreciated the towels for use by the pool and the personal touches such as the bathroom products and hairdryers in all the rooms. I would recommend the villa confidently. If I were to be pernickety about the villa; I would add, that it would have been helpful to have a cheese grater, a dustpan and an extra key! Currently the pictures of the pool area show 3 parasols & outside cushions, but on arrival, there were only 2 parasols and no outside cushions (this is a small detail, but worth mentioning). We were disappointed and surprised that there was no arrival pack, and the information booklet, albeit helpful, could have gone much further. Unfortunately, when in a unknown town, being advised where the nearest butcher, supermarket etc. by road names isn’t that helpful, as there are no road signs. We were also not contacted, even once, by anyone asking if all was well, anything was needed etc. However, the biggest downside for us, that changed the dynamics of the holiday quite considerably, was the location of the villa. The description states a ‘3 minute walk to the beach’ and a 5 minute walk to the nearest restaurant. This is simply not correct. The nearest open water area. which is not a beach but really a bay for hiring boats and other water sports, is down a hill, out of the gated villa area, and then a walk on a fairly busy road, I would say around a 30 minute walk. And as I say it isn't a typical beach with sunbeds, parasols, etc. (We did spend some time looking for pathways to other possible beach areas near the villa, and I can only assume the pathway mentioned in the description is the one that takes you to the church). The nearest taverna is a further 5 minute walk and is situated on the side of a busy road and never had anyone eating in it - a car is, very much, a necessity. So in summary, the villa was great, positioned in a beautiful quiet area with stunning views, in a well-tended, attractive garden with a great swimming pool area but the location didn’t live up to the description and therefore did spoil the type of holiday we were hoping to have. Prestige Villas Response:- Dear Deborah & Jonathan Many thanks for taking the time to post your review. I’m glad you all enjoyed your stay at Still Waters but am so sorry if certain aspects were slightly disappointing. I immediately sent a copy of your review to our owners Mr & Mrs Gillett who assisted me in our property description and we always include our owners in feedback as feel this is very important. Mrs Gillett tells me that the cheese grater is in the saucepan cupboard – perhaps not a great place to keep it. There was a recent flood in the basement and we think that perhaps the dustpan and brush were thrown away, we will ensure they are replaced. There is usually a spare key in the fruit bowl. We did have three parasols but one was damaged by the wind during the summer when one of our guests left it up, the owners are aware of this and are replacing it and the cushions which are ont the photo's were left out by guests during the Summer and the local cat community found them very comfortable and have spoiled them so we decided to remove them. We all agree that a welcome pack is a good idea for next season and we will certainly amend the Information File we leave and ensure that localities are clearer. As with all Independent holidays we leave our guests to enjoy their stay and don't feel it necessary to contact them. I do say in my email with your Arrival Instructions that I am always available and give you my telephone numbers, these are also in the Information File in the villa including all emergency numbers should they be required. Regarding distance descriptions to the beach these were given to me by the owners. I’m not sure exactly which beach they refer to but I will certainly look at the distances myself and change them if they are indeed incorrect. I presume the taverna you are talking about is 'Guapo' one of Corfu’s most popular taverna’s in the area with our local community and it’s usually very busy after 10pm, table reservations are usually required. I've not known this waterside road to be busy, other than local residents using it and the Corfu Imperial Hotel. Again these distances were given to me by the Owners but I will definitely re-look at these myself, I think a 10 minute stroll is more realistic. Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review and I can assure you that we will look at improving our advert on your recommendations. Best regards Jane & the owners of 'Still Waters'
Gary the Greek, UKDate of stay: August 2014 We had a lovely ten day holiday at villa Stillwaters. The villa was perfect - great views, peaceful location, lovely veranda for dining, well equipped and most importantly gorgeous comfy beds. My personal favourite spot was by the pool under a giant sun umbrella on the amazing double sunbed - pure relaxation especially being surprised by a pimms no.1 ...... About six in the evening it was lovely to watch the swifts skimming the pool from this position! The gardens are a pure delight, beautifully kept and tranquil. The villa itself is located within a small private gated community of luxury villas all with gorgeous sea views. The spacious master bedroom is on the first floor with an ensuite - no other bedrooms on this level was a bonus - but the photos don't do it justice - we were absolutely delighted with it and the large balcony with its beautiful views which we took full advantage of. Old corfu town is only 15 minutes away so we had three evenings there just walking around and dining in restaurants advised in the villa book - we totally agreed with the reviews especially 'To Mike' - amazing food and extremely friendly. We had a couple of BBQs at the villa but otherwise took the recommendations from the villa for local restaurants which again were fab - 'Olympia Mare' at the nearby Gouvia marina did us proud with fabulous pasta and wonderful salads, 'Apovrado' in Kommeno had great food and wonderful sea views, but our favourite was 'O Milos' in Kommeno with wonderful views, excellent food at very reasonable cost and exceptionally friendly. A car is necessary here at the villa to get out and about in the evenings or to go to the supermarket, but not especially essential as we made use of 'Alex the Taxi' a few times and also you can easily walk to nearby restaurants or down to the beautiful church and small sand beach via a footpath just outside the entrance gates - but we spent most days just relaxing in the villa, pool and garden enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Jane the agent was delightful, couldn't do enough for us, arranged car hire and was always on call. One other thing, we rented a small boat from the boat hire below and went for lunch to Agni taverna for wonderful seafood experience - perfect! All in all a holiday to remember - loved it!
Mummy Marshy, UKDate of stay: August 2014 This villa gave us the whole package... total relaxation.. amazing pool ... a beautiful dining veranda for a the family to sit round and appreciate the stunning views. Being an active family the Beech and water sports were just a short walk away with a great variety. The Villa offers a fantastic position for Corfu Town with its many restaurants ... We even missed the beds when we got home!! They were all of the best quality .. Overal we can highly recommend this villa for anyone's stay. The pool and cleaning staff were above and beyond ...
Inky, UKDate of stay: June 2013 Stillwaters is a high spec villa by any standards. The gardens and pool area are by far the best we have ever had and a pleasure to relax in, day and night. The owners have thought of everything inside the house too, from cleaning products to ant killer, it is all here for your convenience. It is hard to fault the villa in any way, the views are spectacular, rooms all comfortable and the main living area is a joy. Our only very slight disappointment is the lack of places to eat within walking distance. For a large group or family with children who enjoy the pool, this is the place for you.
