Villa Description
The Old Bakery – Exclusive to Prestige Villas, Katavolos, Nissaki, Corfu
Exclusive to and fully managed by Prestige Villas, The Old Bakery is a beautifully restored four-bedroom country house with an additional detached guest cottage set beside the pool. As its name suggests, this charming property was once the local bakery serving the pretty hillside hamlet of Katavolos. Today, it has been lovingly transformed into a unique and characterful home by its British owner, combining authentic Corfiot architecture with modern comforts.
Nestled amidst tranquil olive groves overlooking Nissaki, The Old Bakery exudes rustic charm and timeless elegance. The original section of the house retains its flagged stone floors, metre-thick walls, and low-beamed ceilings, evoking the warmth and history of a bygone era. In contrast, the newer extension brings light and space, featuring a bright contemporary shower room with dual rainfall showers and a fresh, modern design.
Throughout the house, views from the picture-perfect windows frame the landscape like a painting, rolling hills, silver-green olive trees, and the glistening Ionian Sea beyond.
During the warmer months, guests can retreat to the covered veranda that spans the rear of the house, a peaceful space ideal for leisurely lunches or evening meals around the large solid-wood dining table, followed by relaxed moments on the comfortable sofas as the sun sets over the bay.
Below the house lies the impressive 10m x 5m swimming pool, surrounded by stone terraces and lush tropical foliage. Completely private, this area offers breathtaking views down the valley to the azure sea below. Comfortable sun loungers rest beneath a shaded pergola, providing the perfect spot to unwind during the heat of the afternoon.
Beside the pool sits the Guest Cottage Suite (available at a supplement), offering a serene retreat with a king-size bed and en-suite shower room—ideal for couples seeking extra privacy.
With its harmonious blend of old-world charm and modern style, The Old Bakery is a true gem,a peaceful Corfiot haven where history, comfort, and natural beauty meet.
Please note: The Guest Cottage carries a supplement.

Beach – Pebble/ShingleRestaurants &
Bars – Yes scattered along the coast & down by the harbour
Boat Hire – Yes with Fontas Boats
Supermarkets – A couple of mini-markets along the coastal road
Nissaki is one, if not, the most popular areas along the North East coast of Corfu for villa holidays. Nissaki spreads itself along a 3km stretch of stunning coastline, encompassing numerous bays and small mountain hamlets. The harbour is the focal point of the area, with a selection of traditional tavernas located around the pretty harbour and immaculate pebbly beach. Here you will find the clearest water, a haven for snorkelling. There are a good selection of restaurants here, Miltos Restaurant is the built on the edge of the rocky outcrop overlooking the sea and the beach. It’s the largest most popular taverna down in Nissaki where Agatha & Lakis and their family before them have been serving delicious home cooked food since 1955.

Catherine W, UKDate of stay: August 2024 We stayed as a small family group of 6 and had a wonderful time at the villa. The road going up was steeper and longer than even anticipated from other reviews, but the views worth the drive. During peak season it also felt so quiet after venturing down to nearby beaches and towns. We loved the pool and all the extra touches such as the portable speaker and lovely gas bbq. Air conditioning was perfect throughout the house during a very hot week. I wish I was back in the lovely master bedroom opening the doors to the balcony, wonderful views and the sounds of the beetles / insects ! Thank you very much for a great stay. Catherine & family
Michael C, UKDate of stay: July 2024 Amazing villa with a beautiful views over the valley and sea. It had everything we needed, was very comfortable and would definitely recommend!
David E, UKDate of stay: October 2023 I have just returned from my second stay at the Bakery and had another fabulous time. What a wonderful villa; that my partner joked is better equipped than our house! A lot has been upgraded in the house since we were last there, and the road approaching the house has been recently re-laid. The sublime view over the whole island thankfully is still present. The old bakery is the perfect place to get away from it all with the awe inspiring surroundings of the coast and the olive groves. Some consider October a bit late but the weather was fantastic (in the 20s all week and a couple of days 27/28c), the island was calm, but the restaurants still largely buzzing - some great new ones have opened up in the nearby bays and in Corfu Town. Cannot wait to return and will be sure to stay at the Bakery when I do.
Isabel P, UKDate of stay: July 2023 Stunning location with views across the coastline and over to Albania. The villa is really well set up for a family holiday with an extensive outdoor living space off the kitchen and living room and then a great pool terrace one level down - all with great views - glorious sunshine throughout the day but with good shade. The road up to the villa is steep and winding so recommend an automatic car if you are not one for hill starts! Worth it for the location though. Aphrodite's Supermarket at the bottom of the road was great for supplies and could arrange fresh meet and fish with a days notice. Also recommend the bakery next door for baklava and breakfast items. Lots of great coves and beaches to explore within a short drive - whether you are looking for a beach club and water sports or a quiet cove with turquoise water and a seafood taverna. Highly recommend Taverva Thallasso at Kamanaki and also Taverna Vitamins on the main road at the bottom of the hill - great views.
Isabel Peacock, London UKDate of stay: July 2023 The Bakery is in a really special spot, High up in the hills. The road is challenging (automatic advised) but the incredible views are worth it. We had a fantastic week as 2 families with young children. The outside space is great and pool being on a separate level helpful with little people. Bakery and mini Market at the bottom of the road kept us fed and watered and highly recommend Taverna Vitamins just at the bottom of the hill and Thalasso in Kamanaki - a truly special spot if you are up for the steep drive down. Shopping g service meant we were sorted for the first couple of days which was a great help. Only bit of feedback was that the pillows are rather hard and big and the villa could have been a little cleaner on arrival and a mid-week clean would be a bonus.
Zoe C, UKDate of stay: August 2022 The Old Bakery delivered a very high standard of comfort & relaxation. The master bedroom was glorious, waking up every morning to sunshine & stunning views was just wonderful. The living room was very comfortable but we lived mainly outside & by the pool. We also rented the guest cottage which was perfect for our son, his partner & baby. Excellent baby facilities provided also, including car seat in the taxi transfers. The air conditioning was a welcome respite from the fabulous hot weather. We had a magical storm one night, which we watched from the deckchairs on the balcony. Some days it was just bliss to chill at the villa. We had shopping delivered for our arrival & also our hire car. Taxi transfers were arranged for arrival & return. Everything ran as smoothly as it possibly could. I will miss the peacefulness, sea view & natural surroundings very much. Thank you for a great stay.
Madeleine B, UKDate of stay: June 2022 An extremely comfortable large villa with a lovely pool in a wonderful location with fabulous views. Very private but within easy driving distance of all the charming hamlets and villages of the north east coast for dining. Highly recommended.
