Villa Description
The Old Bakery – Exclusive to Prestige Villas, Katavolos, Nissaki, Corfu
Exclusive to and fully managed by Prestige Villas, The Old Bakery is a beautifully restored four-bedroom country house with an additional detached guest cottage set beside the pool. As its name suggests, this charming property was once the local bakery serving the pretty hillside hamlet of Katavolos. Today, it has been lovingly transformed into a unique and characterful home by its British owner, combining authentic Corfiot architecture with modern comforts.
Nestled amidst tranquil olive groves overlooking Nissaki, The Old Bakery exudes rustic charm and timeless elegance. The original section of the house retains its flagged stone floors, metre-thick walls, and low-beamed ceilings, evoking the warmth and history of a bygone era. In contrast, the newer extension brings light and space, featuring a bright contemporary shower room with dual rainfall showers and a fresh, modern design.
Throughout the house, views from the picture-perfect windows frame the landscape like a painting, rolling hills, silver-green olive trees, and the glistening Ionian Sea beyond.
During the warmer months, guests can retreat to the covered veranda that spans the rear of the house, a peaceful space ideal for leisurely lunches or evening meals around the large solid-wood dining table, followed by relaxed moments on the comfortable sofas as the sun sets over the bay.
Below the house lies the impressive 10m x 5m swimming pool, surrounded by stone terraces and lush tropical foliage. Completely private, this area offers breathtaking views down the valley to the azure sea below. Comfortable sun loungers rest beneath a shaded pergola, providing the perfect spot to unwind during the heat of the afternoon.
Beside the pool sits the Guest Cottage Suite (available at a supplement), offering a serene retreat with a king-size bed and en-suite shower room—ideal for couples seeking extra privacy.
With its harmonious blend of old-world charm and modern style, The Old Bakery is a true gem,a peaceful Corfiot haven where history, comfort, and natural beauty meet.
Please note: The Guest Cottage carries a supplement.

Nissaki
Is this area suitable for me?
Beach – Pebble/ShingleRestaurants &
Bars – Yes scattered along the coast & down by the harbour
Boat Hire – Yes with Fontas Boats
Supermarkets – A couple of mini-markets along the coastal road
Nissaki is one, if not, the most popular areas along the North East coast of Corfu for villa holidays. Nissaki spreads itself along a 3km stretch of stunning coastline, encompassing numerous bays and small mountain hamlets. The harbour is the focal point of the area, with a selection of traditional tavernas located around the pretty harbour and immaculate pebbly beach. Here you will find the clearest water, a haven for snorkelling. There are a good selection of restaurants here, Miltos Restaurant is the built on the edge of the rocky outcrop overlooking the sea and the beach. It’s the largest most popular taverna down in Nissaki where Agatha & Lakis and their family before them have been serving delicious home cooked food since 1955.

Damiette H,Barking, UKDate of stay: August 2021 This villa is everything the pictures make it out to look like. It was spacious and comfortable. My extended family of 8 slept comfortably in all the rooms with beds to spare. The pool was excellent and provided hours of swimming fun and as a backdrop for many instagram photoshoots! The kitchen was large and the private chef we hired had no complaints about the facilities. The only cons about the villa are a minor one and a major one. Minor - The internet was slow and there is very spotty mobile phone signal. This was not that serious of a drawback as it allowed for all of us to disconnect from our devices. I would say though if travelling with children make sure you pack cards, board games or any activities. Major - Renting a car is absolutely mandatory for this villa. The roads are very poorly constructed and extremely narrow leading up to the villa. I had hired a minibus to take my family of 8 on daily excursions and after the first day the minibus driver stated she couldn't come back as the road was too treacherous for her bus. The local taxis would not come pick us up to go to the town so unless we walked the 1 mile to town in the scorching August heat we were effectively stranded in the villa. On our departure day the minibus that came to collect us could not drive into the villa do to the narrow roads so we all had to walk up the steep road in the heat to the minibus. Thankfully, the pool staff were on hand to drive my parents who are in their 70s up the road and to ferry our luggage. If they weren't there I can't imagine how we would have managed. All in all we had a great week, but if we had known beforehand about the difficulties to accessing the villa we would have made preparations. Our Response: Thanks for your review - As with the majority of villas in Corfu, we do state clearly on our website that a car is essential at this property. Had we known you were not intending to hire a car we would have emphasised that this villa was totally unsuitable. Apart from this we are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay.
Melanie F, Malmesbury, UKDate of stay: July/August 2021 Beautiful villa high up in the hills over Nissaki. The villa is a second home not just a rental and this shows in the quality of the furnishings eg comfy sprung mattresses; great kitchen appliances; everything you could want. The terrace is a fantastic living space and the pool is high end. Prestige Villas provided a great service eg shopping delivery unpacked ready for arrival; personal chef recommendations; pool cleaned every other day. Our only comment is that the road up to the villa is a typical Corfu steep and winding mountain road - not for nervous drivers. Thank you !
Harriet C, UKDate of stay: October 2020 This house is beautiful! Wonderful setting (be aware you need a car to get anywhere, and a small one as the roads are narrow!). The views are out of this world and the interior was very comfortable and modern!
Mike D, UKDate of stay: September 2019 We said we'd come back and back we came! 7th Year in a row booking through Jane and Prestige Villas. Its pretty much a seamless process for us now. Another two weeks with friends and family on our favourtie island, it's been as idylic as ever. We savioured the last of the glorious views before dragging ourselves home. Everything is always up to standard and any problems are resolved by a quick text or phone call. Highly recommend the entire Prestige Villas team.
John R, UKDate of stay: August 2019 We had a wonderful family holiday at the Old Bakery. The villa is very well equipped with top quality fixtures and fittings and is very spacious, a great place to chill out.. The road up to the villa can be a bit of a challenge, but is well worth the effort for the spectacular views. A special place for a special time, we made memories that will last a lifetime in this stunning villa. Whether dining in the local tavernas, swimming in the warm sea or simply enjoying the breathtaking views while rocking in the hammock with the occasional dip in the pool, we loved ever minute!
The Brown Family, UKDate of stay: July 2019 My impressions of this wonderful villa were high before we came, however, once at the villa we were blown away. My Wife and my two children have never been as relaxed in any location and we can't wait to go back. This little gem is high with wonderful views, great well equipped facilities and a great pool. We will be recommending it to family & friends and we hope to return.
Olivia G, UK /blockquote> Date of stay: July 2019 We had an amazing time at the Old Bakery. We were a bit nervous driving up to the villa for the first time as the road is long with lots of twists and turns. But we got used to it be the end of the week and the views from the villa were more than worth it! The villa is super comfortable and perfect for families with children. There were plenty of children’s books, toys and board games which was fantastic. The pool is a really nice size and the kids had a great time playing in it. The villa and outdoor areas feel really spacious and the emphasis is very much on relaxation thanks to a hamac, outdoor beanbags, nice loungers, and comfy seating inside. The North East coast is stunning and it was a short drive to pretty bays like Agni or Kaminaki.
