Villa Claire – Between Gastouri & Benitses, Corfu
Nestled between the traditional Greek village of Gastouri and the charming coastal resort of Benitses, Villa Claire is a beautiful family home that blends creativity, comfort, and authentic Corfiot character. The villa takes its name from the owner’s grandmother, who gifted her grandson Manthos the plot of land on which he designed and built his dream home—a home that has been lovingly enjoyed by his family for many years.
Stylish Interiors with a Modern Twist
Exceptionally spacious and tastefully furnished, Villa Claire stands out for its unique, multi-level design that combines modern comfort with a touch of quirky charm.
The ground floor opens into a large entrance area leading to a bright, comfortable living room with a corner sofa, fireplace, and wall-mounted TV. Adjoining this is a modern, fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast table for six, plus a large bathroom featuring a corner bath.
A few steps up, the mezzanine level opens directly onto the patio and includes a second dining area with an extendable table for up to ten guests and a mini bar—ideal for entertaining. This level also offers the first double bedroom, complete with a queen-size bed and en-suite bathroom.
On the first floor, reached via two separate spiral staircases, there are two more bedrooms: a master suite with a queen-size bed, en-suite shower room, and balcony with beautiful views, plus a twin bedroom (convertible to a king-size) with its own balcony overlooking the lush valley below.
Outdoor Living
The villa’s immaculately maintained gardens are a true highlight—filled with colour, charm, and privacy. A new swimming pool (4.00m x 7.50m, 1.5m deep) is surrounded by six sun loungers and large parasols, offering the perfect space for relaxation. There’s also a built-in, covered BBQ area with an outdoor dining table—ideal for enjoying long, leisurely meals in the shade.

Set in peaceful countryside surrounded by olive groves and rolling hills, Villa Claire offers total tranquillity while being just five minutes’ drive from the beachside resort of Benitses, where guests can enjoy a wide choice of traditional tavernas, international restaurants, and lively cafés. For those seeking authentic Greek charm, Gastouri—with its narrow streets, timeless atmosphere, and the famous Hectorus Bakery, which has been baking village bread for over a century—is just a few hundred metres away.

Due to the number of steps this property is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties. Optionally the guest studio is on one level and easily accessible.

Long driveway with plenty of parking for vehicles. Brand new swimming pool surrounded extensive lawns. Beautiful well tendered gardens with Sun loungers and parasols. Outside Detached Built-in BBQ and dining area. The driveway is gated, the garden all fenced and secure.

‘Highlights’ – Traditional Corfiot Village, Achilleion Palace & easy access to Benitses & Corfu Town
Gastouri village lies 10km south of Corfu Town making it the ideal location to enjoy the vast sandy beaches of the south, the UNESCO historical town of Corfu and the Achilleion Palace & gardens, once the home to Princess Sissi & Kaiser Wilhelm and where James Bond ‘For your Eyes only’ was filmed. This traditional Corfiot village has 3 tavernas, some tourist shops selling traditional olive wood ornaments etc, a couple of cafe bars & a mini-market for the very basics. It’s a sleepy village where the bread is still baked the traditional way and old ladies with Donkeys wander the streets carrying fresh produce on their heads. Gastouri was also awarded Greece best village. The area surrounding the village is well tendered and the location of many upmarket properties. This beautiful area is the perfect choice for those looking for a central location with easy access to the majority of Corfu Island with Benitses with it’s wonderful selection of restaurants just a five minute drive down from the centre of the village.

AnonymousDate of stay: October 2020 Niki and Manthos’ villa was an unexpected gem hidden deep in the hills of Corfu. The villa was large with enough rooms to accommodate a family of six with young children. The pool(s) were a highlight for the children and the extensive garden space was welcomed in the Corfu sun. Niki was very helpful with our needs before, during and after our stay. Rooms were nicely furnished and wifi was far reaching (even to the ends of garden). Villa Claire isn’t too far from Corfu Old Town (25 min drive) but be wary of the windings roads leading up to the villa as they are quite tight. Car is essential and there is ample parking space. Overall we would definitely recommend Villa Claire and we would gladly stay here again should the opportunity arise.

However, I understand that is personal taste so can be difficult to please everyone. The hosts were great, we knew they were there if we needed them but were happy to give us all the privacy and space we could ask for.

We liked the privacy and the the quiet. On the other hand the lack of door in the master bedroom is inconvenient! The spiral stares to the bedrooms might be a problem for older people. All over we enjoyed our staying very much.

Tips for other travellers Not far a way from Benitses.In our opinion the best fish food we have got on Corfy was in Taverna Loris. Close to Achilleon Palace. In principle having car you can reach any paces on Corfu within 1 hour.
Alison C, UKDate of stay: September 2017 We had a lovely holiday in this beautiful villa, a perfect base to use to get out and about and explore the island with beautiful beaches on the west coast being only 30 to 40 minutes drive away. Due to the range in ages in our party we drove into the village but it is walkable if you're fit and healthy. We drove into Benitses most evenings to eat as there was a good selection of restaurants. Achilleon Palace is only a few minutes drive away and is well worth a visit. The owners Niki and Manthos were excellent in looking after us and available if any questions arose. Jane at Prestige Villas made the villa and car hire booking nice and easy. It was good to know they were easily contactable if required. The only down side to us was that probably due to the time of year there were wasps about which if you ignored them they sort of ignored you. On the whole we had a great holiday and would recommend to others.

The villa is extremely nice and in a good position to reach different parts of the island. We recommend to visit especially north east and north west area, with a boat too if possible. Very positive experience, only a couple of points. Air conditioning is not very performant and there are often bees in the big garden. But in general everything really fine, included the taverna in Gastouri recommended by the hosts. Very familiar with Spiros and Carole, really special owners.
